The heroic tale of Meir Feinstein and Moshe Barazani became one of the most prominent tales in the history of Zionism and the establishment of the state of Israel. They were sentenced to death by hanging for their participation in different underground attacks against the British rule in Eretz Israel. Four hours before their scheduled execution they killed themselves with two smuggled grenades, abandoning a previous Samson-like plan to kill themselves with their British executioners.
Rabbi Yaakov Goldman joined them on the eve of their execution, April 21, 1947. He insisted that he would be present at their hanging so that they "will see the face of a loving Jewish brother" before they die.
