Mount Olives Cemetery, Jerusalem
Mount Olives (הַר הַזֵּיתִים) is situated to the east of the Old City of Jerusalem, as a barrier between the city and the Judean Desert. The mountain provides a breathtaking view of the Temple Mount, and because of its proximity to the Temple, it was naturally adopted as the first Jewish cemetery of Jerusalem. Since the time of the first Temple, Mount Olives has been used as a Jewish cemetery, containing approximately 150,000 graves.
Meir Feinstein and Moshe Barazani are buried in the section of the victims of the destructive Arab Riots of 1929 of the cemetery. Menachem Begin, the commander of the Irgun and the sixth Prime Minister of Israel, requested to be buried near Feinstein and Barazani.
